With my Escort pretty much out of service for good, I need a new Gambler 500 car by Labor Day. These are some of my top picks.

I just can’t exactly afford them right now, what with moving and a two-week gap between jobs...

But that Sebring... Depending on what’s wrong with the steering, I’d love to have a convertible again, even if I only use it for one weekend.

I’ve driven a 4-cylinder Accord of that vintage. I found it stunningly underpowered.

Transmission is dead, and that’s about all these cars are good for. It would cost the same to replace the whole thing, basically.

As for an EGT swap, the issue is the electronics. All the wiring would need to be redone, and I don’t have that kind of time.
